Julie Dirksen is an instructional design expert that I admire. Her passion for learning led her first to a degree in Instructional Systems Technology, followed by a successful career as an instructional designer and independent consultant. She also teaches, conducts workshops, and writes books and other publications on instructional design, cognitive psychology, and project management (Dirksen, 2023).
I chose to feature this expert because she is actively exploring virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) in her research (Dirksen et al, 2019). Additionally, her personal website has a clean, engaging design that made perusing her professional contributions both easy and fun. I was excited to find that she carried that visual impact into scholarly papers as well, as evidenced in the attached publication. I will be excited to follow her work going forward, and will seek opportunities to attend a speaking engagement or workshop.
